Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 4, 2026
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly, including your name, email address, institutional affiliation, and ORCID iD when you create an account. We also collect metadata about the research outputs you register, such as titles, author lists, and publication details.
Automatically collected information includes your IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers, and usage data such as pages visited, search queries, and time spent on the platform. This data is gathered through cookies and similar tracking technologies.
We may also receive information from third-party services you connect to your account, such as ORCID, CrossRef, or institutional single sign-on providers, in accordance with their respective privacy policies.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to provide, maintain, and improve the SRI platform. This includes operating the identifier registration system, resolving identifiers, and delivering analytics to researchers and institutions.
We use your contact information to send administrative communications about your account, respond to inquiries, and provide platform updates. With your consent, we may also send newsletters and promotional materials.
Aggregated and anonymized data may be used for research purposes, platform analytics, and to improve our services. This data cannot be used to identify individual users.
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We may share information with service providers who assist in operating the platform, such as cloud hosting providers and analytics services, under strict data protection agreements.
Registered research metadata, excluding personal account details, is publicly accessible through the SRI identifier system as part of its core function. This is a fundamental feature of persistent identifier services.
We may disclose information when required by law, to protect our rights, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with appropriate notice provided to affected users.
4. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information, including encryption in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest, access controls, regular security audits, and automated threat detection systems.
While we take reasonable precautions, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but continuously work to protect your data against unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Registered identifiers and their associated metadata are retained permanently, as persistent identifiers are inherently long-lived.
When you request account deletion, we remove your personal account data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or where the deletion would compromise the integrity of the identifier system.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data. You can manage most account information directly through your dashboard settings.
To exercise your rights or for any privacy-related inquiry, contact our Data Protection Officer at [email protected]. We will respond to all requests within 30 days.
7. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain your session, remember your preferences, and analyze platform usage. For full details on the cookies we use and how to manage them, please see our Cookie Policy.
Essential cookies are necessary for the platform to function and cannot be disabled. Analytics and preference cookies can be managed through your browser settings or our cookie consent banner.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. For significant changes, we will provide additional notice such as email notification.
Your continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
